Desert Diamond Planning $40M Overhaul

The Glendale entertainment venue is coming off a record year and wants to ensure it stays on top of its game. The Phoenix Business Journal reports the Desert Diamond Arena hosted 50 events in 2023, up from 43 in 2022. That led to a year-over-year attendance increase of 119%. The arena is just one of the many entertainment venues in the area. The Westgate Entertainment District is one of the largest mixed-use shopping and entertainment complexes in the Valley, and also features State Farm Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals home.

Work is set to start later in 2024. It includes renovations to its 87 luxury suites, the addition of convenient grab-and-go stations, a speakeasy and new club spaces. Glendale and ASM Global, the group that runs the arena, are splitting the cost of the $40 million of upgrades.
