Des Plaines Lease Shows Chicago’s Appeal for Manufacturers

Darwin Realty’s Richard G. Daly and Chris Mergenthaler represented a private partnership in the lease of its building at 1701 Birchwood Ave. in Des Plaines, IL to Amphenol EEC. The tenant, a manufacturer of electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, is relocating its facility from Chicago and Mexico.

“The tenant was attracted to this building because of its heavy power and open floor plan,” said Daly. “The company’s relocation shows that the Midwest, and specifically Chicago, is once again becoming a desirable location for manufacturers because of its labor pool and ease of distribution.”

The 48,790 square foot building on 2.4 acres of land has 6,200 square feet of office space and 24-foot clear height ceilings in its warehouse.  Zoned for general manufacturing, the facility also has potential for outdoor storage and parking for 109 cars.

The tenant was represented by Colliers International’s Ned Frank.
