Denver’s Metro State Greenlights First Student Housing Project
Metro State University in Denver is known as a commuter school. That’s about to change. Columbia Ventures and Auraria Campus are constructing a $115 million, 12-story building with 550 beds on the school’s campus.
Called Summit House, the 200,000-square-foot student housing structure will be on an empty plot of land on Auraria Parkway, across from Ball Arena. It will be next to Springhill Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown.
Construction should begin in early August. The tower will open in the fall of 2027.
Food and beverage options will be added to the first floor of Summit House. The second floor will be the site of the school’s Classroom to Career Hub, or C2 Hub, a program that connects students to potential employers.
PCL Construction will be the general contractor for the building, and SAR+ is the architect.
MSU Denver will issue up to $135 million in debt, funding that will be used for the student housing portion of the project.
