Denver Special District Okays $203.3M In Bonds for DIA-Area Improvements

A Denver special taxing district has issued $203.3 million in bonds to fund improvements that could allow for the construction of hotels, retail sites and manufacturing buildings near Denver International Airport.

The Denver Business Journal reports the district comprises the Denver High Point at DIA Metropolitan District and the Colorado International Center Metropolitan District. Westside Investment Partners serves as the master developer for the area.

Bond documents indicate three new hotels, totaling 639 rooms, are eyed for the area, opening in 2027, 2028 and 2029 are included in the plan. Retail, restaurants, daycare and two large self-storage facilities total another 188,500 square feet of projected future commercial development.

Planned development also includes a major expansion of PepsiCo Inc. beverage bottling facilities in the northwest portion of the district. A new bottling plant calls for a 300,000-square-foot warehouse and another bottling plant of 800,000 square feet, which could be developed in 2031 and 2033, respectively.
