Denver Commits $800M for Hotel/Equestrian Center
The City of Denver has agreed to help finance a 160-room hotel, a 4,500-seat arena and a 570-stall equestrian events center north of downtown. The town will provide $23.3 million annually over the next 35 years for the project, for a total of $800 million.
The upgrades will center on the National Western Center, home to the National Western Stockshow.
The redevelopment — including the new spending and the previous spending — is funded by local tourism taxes voters approved in 2015.
Construction on the equestrian center development is expected to be completed in 2028. The development team includes private equity firm Fengate, Hensel Phelps, Perkins+Will, Oak View Group, McWhinney Real Estate, Sage Hospitality and 4240 Architecture.
