Denver-Area Satellite Maker Considering State Development Tax Incentives
A space communications company with a facility in Broomfield is now eyeing Boulder for a new factory that could in the future produce two satellites per day. The Denver Business Journal reports the company, CesiumAstro, is considering a $12.4 million tax incentive package from the state’s Office of Economic Development and Trade, which would award tax incentive credits in that amount if the company creates 906 jobs in the area. If the company chose to locate in Boulder, it would receive tax credits for those jobs over an eight-year period. The company currently has 140 employees.
The company builds high-throughput, software-defined phased array communications payloads for airborne and space platforms. The company would build a 100,000-square-foot, “state-of-the-art” factory for end-to-end design, manufacturing, assembly and integration of communications satellites, including research and development in emerging space technologies.
