Demandware Expands HQ After Salesforce Acquisition

Demandware plans to expand at its 5 Wall St. headquarters in Burlington, MA by as much as 55% by July 2021. The e-commerce firm confirmed a three-phase plan, outlined in SEC filings, to grow from 116,650 square feet to 181,680 square feet starting in January 2017.

That new HQ space could accommodate as many as 900 employees, and Demandware would occupy the entire building once the final expansion is executed. Demandware currently has roughly 430 employees in its HQ office and another one in Cambridge, MA.

Demandware, which is being acquired by San Francisco tech giant Salesforce for $2.8 billion, is being positioned as the “commerce-cloud inside Salesforce.”

5 Wall St. is a six-story building that opened in 2008 and was acquired by Atlanta-based Piedmont Office Realty Trust in 2014.
