Dell Donates $750M for UT Medical Center

The Dell Foundation announced a $750 million investment to establish the UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research and the UT Dell Medical Center in Austin. That brings Dell’s total support of the university to over a $1 billion total. Michael Dell was a University of Texas student, who went on to establish one of the world’s most successful computer businesses.

The Austin Business Journal reports the UT Dell Medical Center is a massive project for Austin and will help Central Texans get more specialized health care than was previously available in the region. It is being built on a 27-acre site at the larger UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research, which will span more than 300 acres. The medical center will break ground this year and is slated to open in 2030. The hospital will include between 300 and 500 beds.

The medical center will focus on a patient-centered model that connects prevention, diagnosis, treatment and research through AI and advanced computing.
