Delegation Makes “Compelling Business Case” for Asian Expansion
A recent trip to Asia by a delegation that included Ontario International Airport’s Kelly Fredericks and San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman could result in a new mall development in Ontario, CA. Officials met with a Chinese investor that’s considering developing an indoor retail center near the airport.
The four-city visit to China and Taiwan gave officials a chance to make a “compelling business case” about the Inland Empire in hopes of swaying Asian business leaders to consider the region. The interested developer already has a U.S. corporation, and plans to place an offer on a property at the 1,700-acre airport.
A top agenda item for Fredericks has been to find better uses for 700 acres surrounding Ontario airport. Major Chinese courier companies are also being courted to use the airport as gateway and hub to the U.S. and Latin American markets.
