Del Frisco’s Pays $325M for Barteca Restaurant Group

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc., headquartered in Irving, TX, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Barteca Restaurant Group for $325 million in cash. The transaction is scheduled to close at the end of Del Frisco’s Q2 2018. Barteca CEO Jeff Carcara will continue to lead the Norwalk, CT-based company, and will report to Norman Abdullah, Del Frisco’s CEO.

Barteca’s two brands are Barcelona, the largest Spanish restaurant concept in the United States, and Bartaco, which focuses on upscale street foods. The company currently operates 31 restaurants across 10 states and Washington DC.

“We believe Barteca’s innovative and ‘best in class’ concepts are highly complementary, and will provide Del Frisco’s portfolio with significant growth and development opportunities,” Abdullah said. “They will provide opportunities to enable us to capture market share in the experiential dining segments, while mitigating the risk of seasonality and economic downturns to our current restaurant portfolio.”
