Del Amo Construction Completes Phase One of The Press in Costa Mesa

The team of Del Amo Construction, Ehrlic Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects, SteelWave and 5 Ronin have announced the completion of Phase 1 of The Press, an innovative reuse of the former Orange County newsroom and printing facility of the Los Angeles Times in Costa Mesa, CA. The building is now an expansive, creative office campus.

Del Amo Construction led the transformation using a strategy of “selective subtraction” to introduce daylight, fresh air and views. Elements such as canopies and monolithic concrete walls gesture to the origins of the former production space.

Mitch Hudson, Del Amo Construction’s COO said in a news release, “The conversion of the former printing press facility into a modern, creative office campus was well-suited for our team’s depth of experience in the area of adaptive reuse.”

All phases of the project, including a parking garage and R&D building are scheduled to be completed in early 2023. Photo courtesy of Matthew Millman.
