DeKalb Hospital Proposes $46M Wellness Center

Officials with Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL have filed a proposal with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to develop an 111,105-square-foot health and fitness center at 626 E. Bethany Rd. If board members approve the plan, construction could begin this spring on the $46 million center. Anticipated completion would be March 2019.

The fitness area would make up 72,500 square feet of the building, and have an indoor track, weight training, therapeutic pools and a child-care area. The additional space would be dedicated to doctor’s offices, conference rooms, administrative space and the lobby.

The IHFSRB will examine the proposal at its March 14 meeting. The board determines if proposed health service projects are economically sustainable and necessary to the community.
