Bay West hopes Plano finally approves mixed-use project at old Fry's

Decision Coming Soon on Plano Fry’s Site

It’s been going on for years, but now Bay West Development only has to wait until May 1 to find out if its ambitious plan to convert a onetime big box store into a mixed-use project is approved by Plano’s planning and zoning commission. Bay West wants to build 501 apartment units, 33 townhomes and 70,000 square feet of commercial use. Within the commercial allotment Bay West wants to build office space and a 100-key hotel. The empty Fry’s store that currently occupies that land is 172,800 square feet.

Bay West has been at it a while on the property, being denied a previous request in 2021 that called for 833 apartments spread across two five-story buildings; an eight-story, 100-room hotel; and a six-story office building measuring 123,600 square feet.
