De La Vega Moving Ahead on The Central’s Next Phase

De La Vega Development is making progress on The Central, a 27-acre mixed-use district planned between SMU and Downtown Dallas. The Dallas Business Journal reports the company is gearing up to go vertical on a 400-unit apartment tower, a health and wellness club, and a Marriott-branded hotel. The Central will also have three restaurants. The development firm is in the permitting process.

The health and wellness club could break ground this summer, while the hotel, which will have around 200 rooms, could get going in the first quarter of 2027. The company is also open to the possibility of building office space next to the hotel.

The first phase of the development saw a 321-unit high-rise, The Oliver, developed and built by Dallas-based StreetLights Residential.

In total, The Central Dallas is planned for 4 million-square-feet of urban mixed-use development focused on connectivity with upscale multifamily, hospitality, office, retail and restaurant uses as well as a 3.5-acre park.
