David Weekley Homes Acquires Acreage, Plans $50M Development
David Weekley Homes acquired two tracts of land on the eastern side of Houston’s Heights neighborhood. The homebuilder is planning to develop a new urban product at a cost of more than $50 million.
The land, sold by the Robert Wayne Estate, consists of 4.8 acres at 2100 Airline Dr., and 1.3 acres at 1602 Northwood St. NewQuest Properties’ Chris Dray worked with Horrigan & Goehrs LLP, the estate’s court-appointed trustee on the transaction. The larger site held a mobile home park.
“This land was under contract in three weeks, but it took two years to close because of the complex structuring of the family ownership and boundary issues,” said Dray, who represented the seller. David Weekley Homes was self-represented.
The new owner is planning a residential development, the first phase of which will consist of 78 units and upscale amenities.
