Dallas Macy’s to Make Way for Children’s Health Center
The Macy’s at The Shops at RedBird is facing the wrecking ball. Like most Macys, the onetime retail powerhouse has seen most of its stores shuttered and many razed. The Dallas Business Journal reports that demolition will start this summer.
Workers will clear nearly 53,000 square feet of the building at 3350 W. Camp Wisdom Road and renovate it into a 95,000-square-foot multi-tenant office complex. The $9 million job is expected to be completed near the end of next year.
In that space, Children’s Health will establish a 42,000-square-foot clinic on the first floor. PNC Bank has also signed on to The Shops at Redbird. Other tenants housed at the former shopping mall include Crossroad Community Services, Dallas College and the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce.
The next phase of the project will focus on attracting retail users to the nearly 40 acres that were once parking lots. A 200-room hotel and grocery store may be part of the mix as well.
