Dallas County to Build New $52M Bio-Lab Facility

The project, to be located at 1400 W. Mockingbird Lane is slated to cost $52 million. The life science facility will be near the Southwestern Medical District and Dallas Love Field.

The 75,000-square-foot facility will serve Dallas County’s Health and Human Services’ new public health laboratory. The new lab will feature a build-to-suit, bio-safety level 3 facility to meet the current and future needs of the department. The Dallas Business Journals reports the facility will sit on a 1.6-acre property that Dallas County acquired from TXRE Properties. Last year, the county purchased the adjoining building at 1300 W. Mockingbird, which it uses for community supervision and corrections.

The facility will be designed by architect firm Page Southerland Page with Beck Construction serving as the general contractor. International investment manager Amber Infrastructure Group and DeSoto-based Integrated Project Solutions will oversee the building.

The project is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025 with occupancy as early as January 2026.
