Dallas Ambassador Hotel Building to convert to apartments

Dallas Ambassador Hotel Building to Become Rental Community

The building at 1300 S. Ervay Street was constructed in 1904 and was known then as the Majestic Hotel. In 1930 it became the Ambassador Hotel and became the domain of President’s and celebrities. The building was vacant when Jim Lake Cos. bought it in 2015 hoping to turn it into apartments. But a fire destroyed the inside in 2019. The Dallas Business Journal reports that OHT Partners bought the building in June of 2022, also with plans to develop apartments units.

According to a public filing, the 322,000 square foot apartment building with a construction cost estimate of $113 million is scheduled for renovation work September of this year. It’s expected to have 299 units, over parking and an amenity deck.

Dallas-based Corgan is the architectural design firm for the project. OHT builds rental communities in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
