Dale Development to Build 375 Units in Amesbury

Dale Development is proposing 375 housing units on Elm Street in Amesbury, MA., as part of a rezoning effort to comply with the MBTA Communities law, a zoning requirement for a minimum number of housing units to support public transportation. The project, planned for a 25-acre site known as the Golden Triangle, would include up to 10% income-restricted units. The development would be divided into north and south sections, with the north section containing all rental units and the south neighborhood featuring single-family and condo units.

Amesbury, classified as an adjacent community under the MBTA Communities law due to its proximity to Newburyport, must allow for at least 789 units under the law. The town has identified three districts for new housing, including the Golden Triangle Overlay District. Amesbury has until the end of the year to submit its rezoning plan, following the lead of other rapid transit communities in the state.
