Dairy Queen Aims to Add 400 Stores in California
Dairy Queen is expanding across California, with plans to add 400 new stores in the next 10 years. The identified store sites are split evenly between Northern California and Southern California.
The Minneapolis, MN based chain, part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway portfolio of companies, currently has 98 locations in California. Texas has the most DQ restaurants, with more than 600 locations. The company has no approved new locations in California yet, but it’s actively seeking real estate sites as well as franchise owners.
Dairy Queen celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, and has 6,700 locations globally. Since launching its Grill & Chill concept in 2002, featuring burgers and sandwiches, Dairy Queen has experienced steady growth.
