CyrusOne Breaks Ground on Aurora Data Center
CyrusOne, a global data center developer and operator, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest data center in Aurora, Illinois.
The campus, CyrusOne’s second in the city, will include two buildings totaling 446,000 square feet, delivering an initial IT capacity of 40 megawatts. The new data center is part of the company’s broader investment strategy, selecting Illinois to expand its portfolio, with total capital investments in the state exceeding $1 billion.
“With Chicagoland being the third-largest data center market nationally and demand continuing surging, this expansion aligns perfectly with our strategic plan to enhance our capacity and capabilities,” said Eric Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer, CyrusOne.
Attendees at the groundbreaking included Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin and Gil Quiniones, ComEd President and CEO. “This groundbreaking is the culmination of years of work with our partners at CyrusOne, and secures hundreds of construction jobs as well as over twenty data center positions for the people of our state,” said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
