Cyrus-One planning 3rd SA data center

Cyrus-One Planning Another San Antonio Data Center

Cyrus-One has purchased the land and filed plans to build a data center on 25 acres just west of Texas Research Parkway in San Antonio. A site plan outlines two buildings that will be no more than 75 feet high. Both buildings would be outfitted for a utility capacity of 18 megawatts. The buildings are designated at SAT10 and SAT11.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports the construction timeline has not been disclosed, though the company agreed to an 18-month time frame from start to delivery. It also agreed to start construction within 36 months of buying the land.

San Antonio and its surroundings have become a hot spot for data center activity, most recently exemplified by Microsoft’s expanded presence on the western fringes of Bexar County. The Washington-based tech giant is growing its footprint in the same area as the latest CyrusOne development.

CyrusOne has three existing data centers in the San Antonio area, dubbed SAT1, SAT2 and SAT5.
