Curtain Set to Rise on $80M Centennial Plaza
The final details are coming into focus on Centennial Plaza, an $80-million project timed to coincide with Riverside City College’s 100th anniversary. Planned to open next month, the project features a state-of-the-art concert hall and a culinary school, complete with a public restaurant.
The block-long Centennial Plaza provides larger and more technologically advanced homes for the Culinary Arts Academy, and the Henry W. Coil Sr. and Alice Edna Coil School for the Arts. The architecturally distinctive, three-story glass-and-steel culinary building ties in with other projects, including an adjoining Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties completed in 2012.
City leaders envision a vibrant hub of arts, culture and education serving as a catalyst for continued revitalization of downtown Riverside.
