Cuomo: Gatherings of 25 Now Allowed in Phase Three of Reopening

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday that gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed in Phase Three of reopening, up from the previous limit of 10. Five regions of New York State have already entered Phase Three: Central New York, the Finger Lakes, the Mohawk Valley, the North Country, the Southern Tier, and two more upstate regions are slated to join them by June 17.

Cuomo also said the state has reached the lowest number of hospitalizations and deaths on the three-day average since the pandemic began. The number of total hospitalizations was down Sunday to 1,608, while the 25 deaths on Sunday from COVID-19 represented the lowest level on a three-day average since the outset of the crisis.

“The people of New York should be very proud of the work we’ve accomplished together to bring these numbers down, but we must remain vigilant,” said Cuomo.
