Cumby Group is Underway with Manor Road Redevelopment

Local builder and developer Cumby Group purchased six East Austin properties totaling nearly 9 acres in 2019 and 2020. Fast forward to present day as the firm redevelops more than a block of Manor Road with three adjacent projects. Together, the development will add more than 800 apartments including 80 affordable units and 150,000 square feet of live-work space.

Construction is underway on The Emma at 3219 Manor Rd. where Cumby will build 146 apartments including 15 affordable units. Scheduled to open in July 2022, the five-story community will include ground-floor live-work space and an elevated pool.

Next door at 3115 Manor Rd., Cumby plans to build two five-story mixed-use buildings with a total of between 450 and 500 apartments including approximately 48 affordable units. The company hopes to begin construction in spring 2022, contingent upon securing all necessary city approvals.

Cumby continues to refine its plans for 3303 Manor Rd. but anticipates that it will build approximately 200 apartments in this third project, which will also include affordable housing.

“The opportunity to transform more than a block in the urban core doesn’t come along often, and we’ve worked hard to ensure that we do so in a way that aligns with the needs and goals of the surrounding neighborhood as well as East Austin’s vibrant culture,” said Melissa Brown, Cumby Group development vice president.
