Culture Institute to Make Way for Mixed Use
The Institute of Texas Cultures, which is owned by the University of Texas System, announced its intent to relocate from its current 182,000-square-foot building at 801 E. César E. Chávez Blvd. in San Antonio. The plan is to redevelop the building and the 15 acres on which it sits, into a mixed-use development.
The property is in an area known as Hemisfair, which was the site of the HemisFair 1968 world’s fair, and is now undergoing redevelopment and revitalization. The university is requesting that developers submit proposals to lease the property. The goal is to develop the ITC asset in accordance with the Hemisfair master plan, developed by the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corp. (HPARC).
