Crystal Lagoons Expanding in Houston
Houston-based Land Tejas has acquired Crystal Lagoons U.S. Corp.’s lagoon technology to anchor two master-planned communities in Houston. One of the MPCs is the developer’s 580-acre Balmoral in northeast Houston, with the second one to be disclosed in the future. The Crystal Lagoon technology means large, self-cleaning lakes can be placed in just about any development.
Crystal Lagoons’ CEO Uri Mann told ConnectMedia in an interview during the fall Urban Land Institute conference that his company was focused on projects in North Dallas, South Dallas and Houston and at the time, had more than 10 additional projects under negotiation. The interest from Texas developers was one reason why Crystal Lagoons opened an office in Dallas last fall, he said.
“It’s a great jumping-off point to see the lagoon; to understand how it works, it’s important to see it in person,” said Mann, discussing the Crystal Lagoon that is anchoring the $1 billion Bayside mixed-use development in Rowlett, TX.
