Crown Invest Approved for $80M San Diego Mixed-Use

Developer Crown Invest LLC is green-lit for Two America Plaza, an $80-million mixed-use project set for San Diego’s Waterfront District. As recently approved, the 13-story downtown project will feature 301 hotel rooms, 48 condos, 23,300 square feet of commercial space and 179 parking spaces.

Two America Plaza will rise on a parking lot adjacent to The Irvine Company-owned One America Plaza, notably San Diego’s tallest building. The location meets a smart growth checklist from a location close to transit, in pedestrian-friendly downtown and about 1,400 feet from the waterfront.

The San Deigo Union Tribune reports Crown Invest is a company founded by Mexican nationals, mainly from Guadalajara. San Diego-based Awbrey Cook Rogers McGill is the architect.

Crown Invest’s Angelica Fernandez, project director for Two America Plaza, says that construction on the project should begin in late 2020 with a construction timeline of two to three years.
