Crow to Build 235,000 Square Foot Mass-Timber Office in Frisco
The Offices of Southstone will anchor Southstone Yards, a 45-acre mixed-use development that will feature over 1-million square feet of office space at full buildout.
The seven-story building will be the first mass timber office building in North Texas. Unlike steel or concrete the developers say they find the material is more sustainable, provides greater design flexibility and offers higher thermal insulation. Crow Holdings Cody Armbrister says workers are counting on more these days, “In a post-pandemic work environment, employers and their valued teams have increased their expectations and seek an office environment that delivers a dynamic experience.”
Besides the offices, Southstone Yards will feature shops, restaurants, hotels, nine acres of open space and more than 1,000 apartments and townhomes.
The development is valued at $850 million. The developer plans to break ground this summer on the office building with a targeted completion in third-quarter 2024.
