Crosland Advancing on Charlotte Mixed-Use Project
Crosland Southeast will break ground this fall on a 400-unit apartment complex at The Exchange at Indian Land. The Charlotte Business Journal reports that Crosland anticipates The Exchange’s new Costco Wholesale Corp. and Lowes Foods stores opening in the fourth quarter. A number of smaller retail spaces could open as soon as 2026. Crosland is partnering with FCP on the shopping center and residential development.
Costco bought its 28-acre site at The Exchange for $6.4 million last year.
Besides the apartments, the project will include 320 townhomes and 115,000 square feet of commercial space. Lowes Foods will be the anchor tenant. Costco will be located on an out parcel. In addition, plans include a potential space for Medical University of South Carolina, which is building a new hospital in Indian Land. MUSC wanted additional space in the area beyond the hospital campus.
The Exchange at Indian Land is located at 8918 Charlotte Highway.
