CRE Execs Identify the Key Opportunities in 2025 (VIDEO)

“We’re really focused on sectors where we see strong tailwinds to demographics coupled with limited future supply in the near term and strong demand generally. So that’s putting us into the housing sectors.”

That’s Jonathan Watson, managing director at AEW Capital Management, responding to the question of what opportunities industry leaders are hoping to see for the balance of 2025. Connect CRE caught up with Watson and other key players at Connect Los Angeles 2025 earlier this month.

At Jamison, the focus is on adaptive reuse, i.e. converting older office properties to residential, said CEO Jaime Lee. “We have such a dire need for housing in the city of LA and we’re really focused on bringing a more sustainable use to these buildings.”

In the video below, you’ll hear additional insights on opportunities from Watson and Lee, along with insightful responses to the question by Jim Dillavou, co-founder and principal, Paragon Commercial Group; Jim Brooks, president of BH Properties; and Antonio Hachem, principal of Slatt Capital.
