CRE Economist, Industry Leader KC Conway Passes Away, Age 62

Real estate economist and industry leader Kieran “KC” Conway passed away suddenly on April 28 in Lyndhurst, OH. He was 62.

A native of Denver, Conway graduated magna cum laude with a finance degree from Emory University in 1985. He went on to build both a successful career and a family in Georgia. After earning his MAI designation in 1989, Conway held senior roles across banking, private industry, academia and government.

In 2005, Conway joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and later served as commercial real estate risk officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York during the 2008 financial crisis. Conway also held positions as chief economist at Colliers, chief appraiser at SunTrust and faculty member at the University of Alabama’s Center for Real Estate. He founded his own firm, KCNomics, and served on the boards of Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corporation and UMH Properties, Inc.

A frequent speaker at industry events, including those presented by Connect CRE, Conway was known for his sharp analysis and candid speaking style. His expertise was wide-ranging and included macroeconomics, valuations, ports & logistics, banking regulation, real estate finance, MSA-level market monitoring, environmental risk management, housing economics and tax appeals.

“KC was a once-in-a-generation mind and made an incredible contribution to the commercial real estate industry,” said Daniel Ceniceros, president and CEO of Connect Media. “His insights on the economy were founded on his years at the Atlanta Fed and deepened through his decades as Chief Economist at Colliers, CCIM, and later with KCnomics. He was a friend to me personally, and to our team, and was always willing to share insights and advice.

“He’ll be remembered not only for his professional legacy but as an incredible father, friend, and man and will be greatly missed.”

Conway is survived by his children: Katie Conway of Tallahassee, FL; Grace Conway of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Luke Conway of Lilburn, GA. He is also survived by his brother Sean Conway (Rebecca), sisters Coleen Wilson (Robert) and Bridgette Greene (Steve), and many extended family members and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Lilburn, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Canine Companions, or St. Stephen the Martyr Church in Conway’s memory
