Cranshaw to Build First Phase of $1.5B MXU Development in Union Square

Newton-based Cranshaw Construction has been selected to build the first phase of USQ, a $1.5-billion transit-oriented, mixed-use development in Boston’s Union Square. The project is being developed by Union Square Station Associates.

Cranshaw will begin providing constructability and estimating services for a significant portion of the parcel, which will consist of two residential buildings, retail space, new open space and a 175,000-square-foot lab building. When completed, the 15.7-acre USQ project will include 2.4 million square feet of new biotech, lab, office, residential and retail space. The project will include nearly three acres of open space.

“We are pleased to add Cranshaw Construction to our development as an experienced, practical partner that has a proven track record,” said Greg Karczewski, president of Union Square Station Associates. “Cranshaw understands our vision to create a new destination for employers and a place for more people to work, live, enjoy and discover, while possessing a clear grasp of proactive approaches to local challenges.”
