Cowboys Dancehall Sells, Following Years of Legal Wrangling
Cowboys Dancehall, a well-known honkytonk on San Antonio’s northeast side, sold to Heiser Development Corp., which paid $6.5 million for the property. The amount paid at an auction is below the $9.75 million recorded in court records early in 2019, as well as the property’s assessed value of $9.1 million. The property was originally listed for $12 million.
The Austin-based developer acquired the 70,000-square-foot property after years of bankruptcy filings and threatened foreclosures. Owner Cowboys Far West Ltd. had filed for bankruptcy in late 2016, seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection twice to avoid a foreclosure auction.
The new owner is planning to renovate the property at 3030 N.E. Interstate 410 Loop, but indicated the dance hall will remain open during the process. S.A. Club Entertainment LLC inked a 15-year lease on the property.
