COVID-19 Emergency Causes ICSC to Postpone RECon
ICSC postponed RECon, the retail industry’s key conference that was scheduled for May 17 to 19 in Las Vegas, and attracts nearly 40,000 attendees. The NY-based industry association cited the rapidly escalating impact and threat from COVID-19 as the reason behind the decision to reschedule the world’s largest global gathering of retail and commercial real estate professionals.
ICSC said in a release, “In consideration of these developments and the fluidity of the situation, we have decided to suspend all ICSC events, including RECon, through June 30, 2020. RECon will not take place in May, and we are currently evaluating potential new dates and alternatives for later in the year.”
The group said the move to push back an event that has a more than 40-year history was made “to explicitly protect the health, safety and well-being of our members, attendees and exhibitors.” ICSC is evaluating several potential new dates to host RECon in Las Vegas later this year. Current RECon registrations will automatically rollover to the new dates.
