Could L.A. Have a 2024 Olympics Chance?
There is a chance that Los Angeles will have a major boost in tourism, consumer spending and international exposure. Boston has dropped out of the race for hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics, giving Los Angeles a chance to be the possible U.S. candidate.
Venues cited as possible sites for the games include Memorial Coliseum, which could soon be renovated; Pauley Pavilion; the Staples Center; and others. A new NFL stadium in the city wouldn’t hurt matters, either.
Los Angeles hosted the Summer Games in 1932 and 1984. Boston apparently pulled out because of the potential pressure it would put on taxation.
