Cotton Bowl getting $140M upgrade

Cotton Bowl Upgrade Underway

Work started in March and is scheduled to be completed by next fall on the famous Cotton Bowl. The iconic stadium is in the process of receiving a $140 million facelift. Renovations will include the addition of 14 escalators, create new premium seating and expand the press area. They will also increase concession stands and restrooms, double the main concourse size on the west side of the facility and triple the upper west concourse, which will feature amenities such as two outdoor terraces with views of downtown Dallas. The improvements are being funded through taxes on tourist-related activities.

The Dallas Business Journal reports upgrades to the Cotton Bowl, located at Fair Park in South Dallas, are driven in part by recognition that the town may have lost out on key sporting events because the stadium lagged behind others when it came to fan-friendly amenities. The town lost in its attempt to secure the 2024 Olympics, which went to Paris, and continued attempts to attract the Cowboys.
