Costco Distribution Site to go up in Mesa

Costco to Add Mesa Distribution Center

Costco plans to develop a facility in Mesa that will allow it to store and transfer large items to customers as well as house offices. The company’s merchandise transfer building, will be south of Peterson Avenue between South 94th Place and South 96th Street in Mesa.

Costco proposes building the facility on two existing vacant lots that will be combined into one 12.40-acre lot. The merchandise transfer building will be developed in two phases. Phase I will total 75,623-square-feet. Phase II will be an extension of Phase I, adding 44,720-square-feet. The completed building will be 120,343 square feet.

A public filing states that the existing zoning of the site is light industrial and the site plan meets all design standards and other requirements of the LI district. There will be an office component to the building. Large bulky items (e.g., furniture, appliances and electronics) will be delivered to customer residences from the merchandise transfer building.
