Costco Georgetown Store Slated for June Opening
Costco likes to keep grand opening news quiet until they have a firm date. For eager Georgetown residents, they finally have a date. A new 160,000 square foot Costco warehouse store will open in Georgetown in June.
The Georgetown location will be Costco’s only store between the Austin metro and the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, a span of about 160 miles. The store and adjoining gas station cost $15 million to build.
The new store is expected to employ 235 workers. In 2019, the Washington-based retail giant was approved for an incentives package valued at $4.4 million. It could be reimbursed for up to $2 million in infrastructure improvements and up to $2 million in sales taxes, plus receive $400,000 to help cover the cost of a new natural gas line.
As of January, Costco had 848 warehouses across the world with 548 locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, with $222.7 billion in revenue for its 2022 fiscal year, which ended in August.
