Costco Eyes Rock Hill for $240.3M Distribution Center
Costco is considering a $240.3 million investment in a distribution center at a 173-acre site in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The proposed distribution center would initially take up 541,000 square feet. The facility would be expandable up to 898,000 square feet in a potential future phase. The project would be expected to be operational by mid-2027. A site plan indicates that the project will be located off Porter Road.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports the facility would serve 20 Costco Warehouse stores throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. Costco expects the warehouse to employ 165 people. Panattoni Development is expected to be the site developer.
York County is considering incentives that would limit Costco’s share in the infrastructure improvements.
Costco is scheduled to open a new store later this month in Indian Land, its fourth in the Charlotte area. The retail giant’s other locations are in Charlotte, Mooresville and Matthews.
