Costco CEO Craig Jelinek Stepping Down

Costco Wholesale Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Craig Jelinek will step down effective January 1, 2024. Ron Vachris, President and Chief Operating Officer since February 2022, has been elected to take over as the next CEO to take the helm of the retail giant.

Jelinek will stay with Costco through April 2024 in an advisory role and will also remain on the company’s board of directors.”Costco has a very strong culture and a deep bench of management talent,” said Craig Jelinek. “I have total confidence in Ron and feel that we are fortunate as a Company to have an executive of his caliber to succeed me.”

Jelinek held the role for more than 11 years at the discount club. Vachris is a 40-year Costco veteran who started as a forklift driver and has served in a variety of positions, including business operations and merchandising activities. Costco operates 861 warehouses worldwide, including 591 in the United States.
