Cortland Brings in Vornado Exec to Lead Debt Capital Markets

Cortland, a vertically integrated, multifamily real estate investment, development, and management company based in Atlanta, has appointed Jan LaChapelle EVP, head of debt capital markets, a key strategic role to maximize financing cost structures and foster the firm’s growth in the US and overseas. Previously with Vornado Realty Trust, LaChapelle has relocated from New York City to Atlanta.

“By leveraging strategic lending relationships, I expect to help the team capitalize on the most efficient financing solutions and facilitate the successful achievement of the firm’s debt capital markets objectives,” said LaChapelle.

At Vornado, LaChapelle served as EVP, head of capital markets. She oversaw capital markets activities including secured financings, unsecured debt issuances, and preferred and common equity issuances, and was responsible for the relationships with lenders and credit rating agencies. Previously, she was SVP, capital markets at Wells Fargo. LaChapelle began her career as a senior financial analyst at CBS MarketWatch.
