Coors Beer Family Building $900 Million Mixed-Use Development Outside Denver
It will be the new global headquarters for CoorsTek. It will serve as the anchor for a campus in downtown Golden, Colorado that will consist of office space, multifamily residences, shops, restaurants and a hotel.
AC Development, a master-planned community developer established by the Coors family in 2020, is overseeing construction.
Owned by the Coors family since 1884, the site was in continuous use for industrial purposes for over 100 years, ceasing operations earlier this year. The site is the historic location of the invention of the aluminum beer can in 1959. The new project does not involve the Molson Coors Beverage Company. CoorsTek’s Michael Coors explains, “We’re thrilled to start the next chapter in our family’s 130-year relationship with Golden on this site.”
The Golden City Council recently approved the development plan and the company is kicking off Phase I, which includes the demolition of numerous structures, infrastructure planning and design work. At completion, the first phase will include 275,000 square feet of office space, restaurants and shops.
