Construction Work Commences on 108K-SF Aging Institute
The University of Texas Health San Antonio has launched construction on a 108,000-square-foot facility that will be the new home for the Sam & Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies. The new structure, located in the South Texas Medical Center of San Antonio, will house research laboratories, support services, research, administration and additional support spaces for the institute.
The $70.2 million project is at Floyd Curl and Charles Katz Drives, adjacent to UT Health’s Medical Arts & Research Center. The project will also consist of an open-air bridge to cross over Floyd Curl, connecting the Barshop to the South Texas Research Facility.
Alamo Architects designed the building, which is anticipated to deliver in 2019. J.T. Vaughn Construction LLC is the general contractor.
