Construction Underway on 117K-SF Science Building

Construction is underway on Texas Tech University’s Experimental Sciences Building II (ESB II), a 117,000-square-foot facility that will include an animal vivarium, four general wet labs, three instrumentation labs and two synthetic labs. The $77 million building is going north to help boost the Lubbock, TX-based university system’s efforts in thematic research.

The building, at 1070 Canton Ave., will also house conference rooms, state-of-the-art tools and offices. The facility will be close to the current Experimental Sciences Building. Construction was funded by $70 million from the Texas Legislature’s authorization of a tuition revenue bond, and $7 million in revenue finance system funds to be repaid by Higher Education Assistance Funds.
