Construction Underway on Texas’ Largest Solar Farm

Enel Green Power North America Inc. launched construction of the 497-megawatt Roadrunner, which will be Texas’ largest solar farm, and the largest in the Andover, MA-based Enel’s portfolio. The farm, located in West Texas’ Upton County, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020, and will generate approximately 1.2 terrawatt hours (TWh), annually.

The solar farm will be built in two phases; the first phase, consisting of 252 megawatts, is scheduled to be up and running by the end of 2019. Roadrunner is the company’s second project to begin construction in Texas so far this year. Enel broke ground on the 450 MW High Lonesome wind project, a portion of which is also in Upton County, in January 2019.

Enel Green Power North America also operates the 63 MW Snyder wind farm, in Scurry County.
