Construction Launches on WestStar Tower
Hunt Cos. Inc. and partner WestStar broke ground on WestStar Tower at Hunt Plaza, which will be the first high-rise office building coming to downtown El Paso in almost 40 years. The 262,000-square-foot building at 601 N. Mesa St. will serve as Hunt’s new headquarters, as well as represent a consolidation, as well as corporate headquarters for WestStar, a regional bank. The $85 million tower, at 306 feet, will be the tallest building in the CBD when it opens in summer 2020.
The development will offer 13,000 square feet of ground-level office and retail space, as well as 735 parking spaces. WestStar will occupy three floors, with a commercial banking operation on the ground floor. Hunt will also occupy three floors.
Project partners include Duda|Paine (architect), Gensler (design), OJB (landscape architect) and Moss (general contractor). Sonny Brown & Associates are handling leasing.
