Construction Launches on Bronx Affordable Seniors Complex

Construction has begun on Arthur Avenue Apartments, a $91-million affordable seniors housing development in the Belmont section of the Bronx. The 176-unit project, which will include 54 apartments reserved for formerly homeless seniors, is being developed jointly by Foxy Management and the Hebrew Home at Riverdale.

“The Arthur Avenue Apartments will provide affordable, quality housing options for formerly homeless seniors, and ensure they have the support services needed to lead healthy and secure lives,” said Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Among those services, which will be provided by the Hebrew Home, will be activities that promote socialization, life skills training and maintenance, education and fitness-based instruction groups, nutritional education, cooking, meditation and music therapy.

Financing for Arthur Avenue Apartments is through New York State Homes and Community Renewal. It includes tax-exempt bonds, federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits and an additional $13.2 million in subsidies.
