Construction Launched on USTAR Innovation Center

Developers at Hill Air Force Base in Northern Utah broke ground on the Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative building at Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park. The 21,000-square-foot building will contain USTAR’s Innovation Center. The building is expected to be completed in late 2017. In the coming months, the developer, Woodbury Corp. will begin construction on a 74,000-square-foot software building on the bases.

Both developments are part of Hill AFB’s Enhanced Use Lease Program, which is one of the largest of its kind within the Department of Defense. The program allows the Air Force to lease land to developers who, in turn, create and lease commercial space and infrastructure.

“The benefit to the Air Force is affordable infrastructure and the synergy created by having contractors being able to work on the Air Force mission either on the base or in close proximity to the base,” said David Williamsen, who is chief of the EUL at Hill AFB.
