Construction Delayed on $32M UH-Katy Campus

A delay in land acquisition means construction on University of Houston’s Katy campus in the far-west Houston metro has been put on hold until spring 2018. The original plan was for construction to get underway on the $32-million facility in August 2017.

The university wants to acquire 46 acres for the campus. The land is situated at University Center, a 125-acre site at Interstate 10 and Grand Parkway. When completed, the new campus will offer undergraduate programs in engineering, nursing, business, special education and computer science, as well as graduate courses.

The facility remains on track for a scheduled 2019 opening. Approximately 2,000 students from the UH Main campus and the university’s Victoria, TX location are expected to attend classes at the new site.
